Jake Austin is a resident of St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
Jake proved to the world that help to homeless people should not be limited only to the donation of money, food and clothing.
Once, when Jake was passing by the open sewer manhole, he heard a noise coming from there. The man got curious and looked down into the manhole. It turned out that there was a homeless who was using this cesspit as a bathtub. At that point Jake realized that a loaf of bread alone, which we usually give to the homeless, is not able to improve their living conditions. These people are like us, they need to have a normal shower and feel themselves clean. They can get money from passersby, but the situation with bathing is much more complicated.
At that moment Jake realized the need to act decisively!
He bought a used truck for $ 5,000.
The man has converted the truck into a mobile shower.
Two showers, two sinks and mirrors got installed in the truck.
The water is coming to a truck from the fire hydrants and getting warmed up by installed there boilers.
Jake gives homeless people free towels and personal hygiene products.
Homeless people have the opportunity to wash their belongings.
Currently the mobile shower functions only in the hometown of Jake. But in the near future he plans to bring the shower on wheels to other cities.
